***********About us **********
BMFI is a national-level, non-profit organization working for the rights, dignity, and socio-
economic security of Bank Mitras (Business Correspondents) across India. BMFI serves as
a unified platform that represents the collective concerns of Bank Mitras and engages
constructively with banks, government bodies, regulators, and corporate stakeholders.
Bank Mitras form the backbone of India’s financial inclusion system by delivering
essential banking and welfare services to rural, remote, and marginalized communities.
Despite their critical role—especially during demonetization, pandemic lockdowns, and
large-scale Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) operations—Bank Mitras continue to face
systemic challenges such as unstable income, lack of social security, absence of formal
recognition, and limited institutional support. BMFI is committed to addressing these
issues through structured advocacy, policy dialogue, awareness initiatives, and
organizational strengthening. The Federation believes that a secure, respected, and
empowered Bank Mitra ecosystem is essential for sustainable financial inclusion and
inclusive economic growth.
